SUMMARY:Level of Instruction
DESCRIPTION:Are you wondering how best to help your pupils? \nDo you know what under and over instruction means? \nAnd how do you avoid getting it wrong for your Part 3 or Standards Check? \nDuring this workshop\, we’ll discuss: \nWhy pitching the level of instruction correctly is so important\, not just for your upcoming test but for every lesson you deliver! \nWhy adapting the lesson also means adapting the level of instruction. \nLearn how to ensure you don’t fall into the traps of over or under-instruction. \nAnd learn some instructor skills to help you know what to do if you get it wrong.

SUMMARY:How We Help People Fail Driving Tests
DESCRIPTION:“I teach safe driving for life—not just to pass a test.” I hear that often. But what I see when I sit in the back of ADI/PDI lessons tells a different story. \nIn this eye-opening workshop\, I’ll share how instructors—without even realising it—can sometimes be the reason a student doesn’t pass. Yes\, even those who “should’ve nailed it” or just “got too nervous.” \nDo these sound familiar:\n\nMaking mistakes on test day that they never made in lessons\nCrumbling under pressure despite being “ready”\nBlame falling on nerves or ‘stupid mistakes’\nWe practised that so many times but they still failed for it.\n\nBut what if some of that pressure was built during training? By you?\nJoin me as we uncover:\n✅ What’s in the instructors head can lead to test-day setbacks \n✅The gap between teaching to pass a test vs. safe driving for life \n✅Tips and techniques that you can start to implement in your very next session. \nWhether you’re working with learners or PDI’s\, this workshop could change the way you see your role. \nDiscover small differences you can make for big changes. \nLet’s rethink success—together.

SUMMARY:Scaling - the Key to Communication
DESCRIPTION:Scaling – The Bigger PictureCertificated Zoom Workshop with Fiona Taylor ADI \nFiona will be looking at ‘Scaling’ in a fresh new way. \nScaling can be as basic as 4 out of 5 stars or even a score of 8 out of 10.\n– OR\nIt can be a way for a multitude of information and details to be explored that may not be evident from an initial glance at the number (or indeed a star) rating alone. How often do you read the full Reviews to see ‘why’ a product has 4.5 stars? Does the rest of the information matter to you? Knowing a number does not provide solutions or results\, nor a plan of action. \nThere is so much more to scaling than the number itself. \nEngaging in this workshop will demonstrate practically how scaling on a deeper level is a really powerful tool for you to explore and develop in your unique way as an ADI or PDI.\nYour Drivers will love the results they see\, too! The course also helps with techniques for engaging people who are reluctant to Scale themselves. \nThis course combines Client-Centred\, engaging training techniques to give you solutions to these issues and more. \nIf you want to feel that your efforts are matched by your Drivers at the end of the day\, plus see the results that you want\, then this course is for you. \nReview\n“I took the scaling course with Fiona Taylor online.\nReally interesting and it works. I’ve been doing this job for 30 years and there is always more to learn and improve.\nUsed it with 3 pupils since and all improved\, enjoyed and better still gave more interaction during lesson.\nThanks Fiona!”\n– Sue Curry \nReview \n“Fiona’s scaling course was an absolute pleasure to be a part of\, until now I never realised how scaling could be used as such a powerful analytical tool\, but in a very positive success based way. Thank you Fiona can’t wait to try it out on my students!”\n– Iwan Williams

SUMMARY:Lesson Planning Made Easy For Your Standards Check or Part 3
DESCRIPTION:Understanding how to plan a lesson for your Standards Check or Part 3 is essential for gaining a Grade A. \nLesson planning should include an understanding of your training areas’ critical control points (situations in which you could expect issues of driving faults to occur) \nAs you work with the learners regularly\, you should understand their development areas and link them to the critical control points. This will help you develop mini lesson plans for your sessions. \nLesson plans should incorporate mini-lesson plans for most situations you may anticipate. \nRecognising when and how to adapt the lesson depends on whether the training area suits the driver you’re working with. \n  \nThe 7 takeouts for the session are: – \n\nUnderstand the benefits of recognising the critical control points in your training area.\nThe importance of knowing the likely driving faults of the driver you’re taking with you to your assessment and how to develop contingencies within your lesson plan.\nIdentifying when and how to adapt the lesson.\nDeveloping mini-lesson plans to make the session more challenging.\nDeveloping mini-lesson plans to make the goals achievable if the driver is struggling.\nIdentify when to develop the session by applying the skill to a new situation.\nHow to help the driver reflect on their skills and how they can develop them on their own.\n\n

SUMMARY:Mind Mapping – their brain dump
DESCRIPTION:This is a certificated Zoom Workshop delivered by Fiona Taylor.\nIn this workshop\, Fiona will be looking at ‘Mind Mapping’ in a fresh new way. \nMind Mapping (or Brain Mapping\, Spray Diagrams or Spidergrams) are a way to get information ‘out’ before ordering and collating it into a useful format for development. \nOnce you unleash your Driver’s scaling potential\, you can add Mind Mapping techniques to form new ideas\, link ideas and visualise relationships between old and new information. It also maps out the options for the next steps and future steps. It’s totally client-centred\, too! \nThe potential of these techniques is limited solely by your imagination! \nCombining Mind Mapping techniques offers a solution-focused approach to common problems such as these examples: \n“Yes… but I just want to give the test a go!\n“My Dad only had 10 hours\, and the waiting list is so long!”\n“Shall I check my mirrors now? Shall I signal now?\n“Shall I change gear now?”\n“Yes\, I know you’ve told me loads of times\, but I just can’t remember what you told me to do or when to do it?”\nThis course combines Client-Centred\, engaging training techniques to give you solutions to these issues and more. \nIf you want that feeling at the end of the day that your efforts are matched by your Drivers\, plus seeing the results that you want\, then this course is for you. \nReview\nMind Mapping – Their Brain Dump\nI wasn’t too sure what to expect from today’s Mind Mapping – Their Brain Dump zoom course. However\, I can honestly say that I do feel I have learned a lot today and have gained some great new ideas\, not just from Fiona but also from other ADI’s and PDI’s who were on the course.\nI really liked Fiona’s calm and relaxed approach\, and she made me feel at ease with her\, “no question is a stupid question” and “there are no right or wrong answers” ethos. My favourite part was Emily’s Story. Partly because I can recognise this in some of my own pupils. It was great to have an example that was easy to relate to!\nI shall certainly be trying mind mapping in the future! And am also keen to try some of Fiona’s other courses\, especially the scaling course. I believe she is in the process of writing another course\, which is due to go live early next year\, so I can’t wait to see what that is all about too!\nI love Fiona’s ability to be so passionate\, but without coming across as being over-bearing or persuasive. She is always keen for others to ask questions and have their own input to aid their own learning. All round a great course\, that I would thoroughly recommend to any ADI or PDI\, but especially those with SC’s coming up or anybody wanting to take a fresh look at their own teaching methods.\nSarah English

SUMMARY:How to deliver a practical mock test to improve your training and driving test results!
DESCRIPTION:How are you assessing your students before they go for their driving test? \n  \nOver the last few years\, it has become essential that ADIs know that their students are ready to sit the test. During your training to become an ADI\, there would have been a great emphasis on assessing what had been learned during the lesson (Formative assessment). For most\, there will have been very little information about conducting a Mock Test (Summative assessment)  \n  \nThe driving test differs from standard driving lessons because the candidate drives independently\, without the instructor’s intervention. The differences will be discussed during the session\, highlighting the benefits of re-creating what it would be like during the driving test. \nThere will be video examples and a discussion about fault assessment. \n  \nFive takeouts delegates will get from this session:  \n  \n\nWhy are mock tests necessary?\nWhat must happen?\nUnderstanding the marking system.\nWhen should we start mock tests?\nReason for the journey\n\n  \nSession type: Zoom \nDuration: 2 hours \nYou’ll receive a workbook\, course notes & a CPD certificate \nFor further details please contact Andrew Love at andrew@lidiaondemand.co.uk

SUMMARY:The Principles of Adapting Lessons to Take Your Grade from a B to an A on Your Part 3 or Standards Check
DESCRIPTION:Knowing how and when to adapt the session to meet the driver’s needs is essential for achieving a high grade when assessed by the DVSA. \nKeeping your focus on the driver and the environment will help you recognise when and what to adapt. \nDuring the session\, Andrew will discuss how to recognise driver errors using all of your senses and identify the root cause of what has happened\, shaping the new needs throughout the session.  Once the root cause has been established\, help the driver recognise that the skills they have already gained can be used to overcome the current error. \n  \nDuring training sessions\, it’s crucial to focus on transferable skills. For example: \n\nSpatial Awareness\, demonstrated in parking or lane discipline\, is a skill that can be used to navigate tight spaces or anticipate the actions of other road users.\nSpeed Control and Judgement: Developed in residential areas\, this can later be safely adapted for highways or overtaking.\nObservation and Hazard Perception: Built through structured scanning techniques\, which can be applied in high-stress situations like intersections or adverse weather.\n\n  \nThe 5 takeaways from the session are:- \n\nRecognising foundation driving skills\nUnderstanding how to chunk skills down into the essential components\nDevelop those skills by applying them in new situations\nCreating thinking drivers\nDeveloping the driver’s self-evaluation skills\n\n  \nJoin Andrew to develop your skills and help learners connect their foundational skills to new scenarios. Encouraging this adaptability lays the groundwork for confident\, competent\, and safe drivers. \n
