SUMMARY:The Principles of Adapting Lessons to Take Your Grade from a B to an A on Your Part 3 or Standards Check
DESCRIPTION:Knowing how and when to adapt the session to meet the driver’s needs is essential for achieving a high grade when assessed by the DVSA. \nKeeping your focus on the driver and the environment will help you recognise when and what to adapt. \nDuring the session\, Andrew will discuss how to recognise driver errors using all of your senses and identify the root cause of what has happened\, shaping the new needs throughout the session.  Once the root cause has been established\, help the driver recognise that the skills they have already gained can be used to overcome the current error. \n  \nDuring training sessions\, it’s crucial to focus on transferable skills. For example: \n\nSpatial Awareness\, demonstrated in parking or lane discipline\, is a skill that can be used to navigate tight spaces or anticipate the actions of other road users.\nSpeed Control and Judgement: Developed in residential areas\, this can later be safely adapted for highways or overtaking.\nObservation and Hazard Perception: Built through structured scanning techniques\, which can be applied in high-stress situations like intersections or adverse weather.\n\n  \nThe 5 takeaways from the session are:- \n\nRecognising foundation driving skills\nUnderstanding how to chunk skills down into the essential components\nDevelop those skills by applying them in new situations\nCreating thinking drivers\nDeveloping the driver’s self-evaluation skills\n\n  \nJoin Andrew to develop your skills and help learners connect their foundational skills to new scenarios. Encouraging this adaptability lays the groundwork for confident\, competent\, and safe drivers. \n

SUMMARY:How does Risk Management Affect Your Standard Check or Part 3 Grade?
DESCRIPTION:Risk management has an influence on the other competencies for the standards check. \nScoring 1 or less in any of the sections in the risk management section\, will have a knock-on effect to the other sections. During this session\, I’ll be discussing how the minor competencies link together\, demonstrating how small changes can upgrade your score to improve your overall mark. \nI’ll be developing understanding of the skills required to move your final grade from a B to an A. \nExplain how the feel of the sessions is important in assessing the overall performance & how to create a safe teaching environment has a direct influence in the final score. Developing the instructor’s observations skills\, which could also include how it feels\, what it looks like or how calm the event is will often help create a safe teaching environment. \nhttps://vimeo.com/manage/videos/936908718 \nFive takes out delegates will get from this session:  \n1. How the risk management competencies link to others\n2. What the examiner is looking for\n3. Giving a great customer experience to the driver & passenger\n4. The reason for the journey\n5. How & when to prepare for your assessment \nDuration: 2 hours \nYou’ll receive a course note & a CPD certificate after the session \nWhat did people say about my previous course? \nQ1. What did you learn from the workshop? \n– How over-instructing can lead to points deducted in at least 8 categories and how we can prevent this from happening. \nQ2. How will you change your teaching practice after today’s course \n– I will change the types of questions I am asking so I don’t over-instruct. \nQ3. What did you enjoy about the session? \n– The in-depth understanding of risk management \nQ4. What did you learn from the workshop? \n– How extensive can the knock-on effect be from one missed opportunity to identify a fault? The importance of timing verbal intervention in order to be proactive and avoid this knock on effect. I’ve also learned to think outside the box around teaching risk management in a post test way. \nQ5. How will you change your teaching practice after today’s course \n– Focus on being more proactive\, and intervene at the right time in order to help my students learn and keep situations safe \nQ6. What did you enjoy about the session? \n– Friendly\, small group where everyone was included and felt that their opinions were valued. \nQ7. Was the course of value? If so\, why? \n– Yes\, my SC was a while ago now\, but this course has helped me to evaluate it again and see what I could have improved.

SUMMARY:How delivering mock tests can influence your trigger points!
DESCRIPTION:How are you assessing your students before they go for test? \nOver the last few years\, it has become very important for ADIs to know that their students are ready to sit the test. During your training to become an ADI there would have been a great emphasis on assessing what had been learnt during the lesson (Formative assessment). For most there will have been very little information about conducting a Mock Test (Summative assessment) \nThe driving test is different from normal driving lessons because the candidate is driving on their own\, without any interventions from the passenger. During the session the differences will be discussed\, highlighting the benefits of re-creating what it would be like during the driving test. \n Five takes outs delegates will get from this session:  \n\nWhat must happen.\nUnderstanding the marking system\nFault assessment\nReason for the journey\nWhat are you going to do next?\n\n  \nReviews: \n Christine Hodgkinson  Jan 16\, 2024\nVery useful course\, giving more insight into Mock tests and actual tests and what the examiners are looking for.\n\nNeil Hughes  Jan 15\, 2024\nA great zoom \, learnt a bit more about doing mock tests \, looking forward to the others\n\n\n\n Nicola Pritchard   Jan 15\, 2024\nI really recommend this cpd workshop to anyone that isn’t sure how mock tests are actually marked. As I now think I may of been marking pupils a bit harshly!!\nI found this workshop really interesting thank you Andrew!!\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Standards Check & Part 3 Know the Product!
DESCRIPTION:Over the last 12 years\, ADI training has focussed on Coaching and teaching skills. \nDesigning the training programme that the PDI/ADI needs to deliver an individually tailored training course have been left to the ADI or PDI to develop on their own. Product knowledge is as important as coaching & teaching skills. The session will help the ADI/PDI understand the product that they are teaching to help improve their Standards Check or Part 3 result.\nWe’ll be outlining how to develop a driving syllabus\, training resources & exercises to help your drivers improve their skills. \n  \nFive takesouts delegates will get from this session: \n  \n\nHow to adapt the training session to meet the needs of the driver.\nUnderstanding where to find the technical information to develop your syllabus.\nRecognising driver errors & how to analyse what skills needs to change.\nUnderstanding how to reference information to be taught.\nBreaking skills & knowledge down into bite size chunks to improve the drivers techniques.

\nDeveloping the instructor’s observations skills\, which could also include how it feels\, what it looks like or how calm the event is will often help create a safe teaching environment.  \nFive takes outs delegates will get from this session:  \n\nHow the risk management competencies link to the others\nWhat the examiner is looking for\nGiving a great customer experience to the driver & passenger\nThe reason for the journey\nHow & when to prepare for your assessment
