SUMMARY:Mind Mapping - their brain dump
DESCRIPTION:This is a certificated Zoom Workshop delivered by Fiona Taylor.\nIn this workshop\, Fiona will be looking at ‘Mind Mapping’ in a fresh new way. \nMind Mapping (or Brain Mapping\, Spray Diagrams or Spidergrams) are a way to get information ‘out’ before ordering and collating it into a useful format for development. \nOnce you unleash your Driver’s scaling potential\, you can add Mind Mapping techniques to form new ideas\, link ideas and visualise relationships between old and new information. It also maps out the options for the next steps and future steps. It’s totally client-centred\, too! \nThe potential of these techniques is limited solely by your imagination! \nCombining Mind Mapping techniques offers a solution-focused approach to common problems such as these examples: \n“Yes… but I just want to give the test a go!\n“My Dad only had 10 hours\, and the waiting list is so long!”\n“Shall I check my mirrors now? Shall I signal now?\n“Shall I change gear now?”\n“Yes\, I know you’ve told me loads of times\, but I just can’t remember what you told me to do or when to do it?”\nThis course combines Client-Centred\, engaging training techniques to give you solutions to these issues and more. \nIf you want that feeling at the end of the day that your efforts are matched by your Drivers\, plus seeing the results that you want\, then this course is for you. \nReview\nMind Mapping – Their Brain Dump\nI wasn’t too sure what to expect from today’s Mind Mapping – Their Brain Dump zoom course. However\, I can honestly say that I do feel I have learned a lot today and have gained some great new ideas\, not just from Fiona but also from other ADI’s and PDI’s who were on the course.\nI really liked Fiona’s calm and relaxed approach\, and she made me feel at ease with her\, “no question is a stupid question” and “there are no right or wrong answers” ethos. My favourite part was Emily’s Story. Partly because I can recognise this in some of my own pupils. It was great to have an example that was easy to relate to!\nI shall certainly be trying mind mapping in the future! And am also keen to try some of Fiona’s other courses\, especially the scaling course. I believe she is in the process of writing another course\, which is due to go live early next year\, so I can’t wait to see what that is all about too!\nI love Fiona’s ability to be so passionate\, but without coming across as being over-bearing or persuasive. She is always keen for others to ask questions and have their own input to aid their own learning. All round a great course\, that I would thoroughly recommend to any ADI or PDI\, but especially those with SC’s coming up or anybody wanting to take a fresh look at their own teaching methods.\nSarah English

SUMMARY:Scaling - The Bigger picture
DESCRIPTION:This is a certificated Zoom Workshop delivered by Fiona Taylor. In this workshop\, Fiona will be looking at ‘Scaling’ in a fresh new way. \nScaling can be as basic as 4 out of 5 stars or even a score of 8 out of 10.\n– OR\nIt can be a way for a multitude of information and details to be explored that may not be evident from an initial glance at the number (or indeed a star) rating alone. How often do you read the full Reviews to see ‘why’ a product has 4.5 stars? Does the rest of the information matter to you? Knowing a number does not provide solutions or results\, nor a plan of action. \nThere is so much more to scaling than the number itself. \nEngaging in this workshop will demonstrate practically how scaling on a deeper level is a really powerful tool for you to explore and develop in your unique way as an ADI or PDI.\nYour Drivers will love the results they see\, too! The course also helps with techniques for engaging people who are reluctant to Scale themselves. \nThis course combines Client-Centred\, engaging training techniques to give you solutions to these issues and more. \nIf you want to feel that your efforts are matched by your Drivers at the end of the day\, plus see the results that you want\, then this course is for you. \nReview\nI took the scaling course with Fiona Taylor online.\nReally interesting and it works. I’ve been doing this job for 30 years and there is always more to learn and improve.\nUsed it with 3 pupils since and all improved\, enjoyed and better still gave more interaction during lesson.\nThanks Fiona!\nSue Curry \nReview \nFiona’s scaling course was an absolute pleasure to be a part of\, until now I never realised how scaling could be used as such a powerful analytical tool\, but in a very positive success based way. Thank you Fiona can’t wait to try it out on my students!\nIwan Williams

SUMMARY:The 7 Secrets of Making Feedback Skills Easy
DESCRIPTION:To gain a GRADE A on your Standards Check or Part 3\, the method that feedback is given to the driver plays a vital role. If the feedback is instructor-led\, they often need to understand the reasons behind the choice that the driver has made or is about to make. \nUnderstanding the reason for a driving choice is essential and empowering. It allows drivers to make a range of considered choices when driving independently\, enhancing their skills and confidence.\nUnderstanding how to deliver and receive feedback is an essential teaching skill. \nWhile it may seem complex initially\, I’ll demonstrate how to make the skills needed to receive and give information easy.\nBy sharing tips and techniques to simplify and improve your feedback skills\, I aim to help you stay focused and motivated towards earning an A on your assessment. \nThe 7 takeouts from the session are:-\n1- Benefits of well-structured feedback\n2- When to use student led feedback\n3- When to use Instructor led feedback\n4- How to receive Receiving feedback\n5- Understanding when to use the feedback loop\n6- Types of scaling\n7- Linking feedback to the Gibbs cycle. \n  \nThe link to join the meeting is below\, and I’ll be opening the session at 17:50\nYou sent

SUMMARY:Making The Skills Needed For Driving Easy & How To Apply Them in New Situations
DESCRIPTION:Developing basic driving skills is the foundation of training new drivers. By guiding learners to recognise where their existing skills apply in varying contexts—such as different traffic conditions\, weather scenarios\, or unfamiliar roads—we create drivers who are better equipped to respond to challenges. \nDuring training sessions\, it’s crucial to focus on transferable skills. For example:\n1. Spatial Awareness\, demonstrated in parking or lane discipline\, is a skill that can be used to navigate tight spaces or anticipate the actions of other road users.\n2. Speed Control and Judgement: Developed in residential areas\, this can later be safely adapted for highways or overtaking.\n3. Observation and Hazard Perception: Built through structured scanning techniques\, which can be applied in high-stress situations like intersections or adverse weather. \nThe 5 takeouts from the session are:-\n1- Recognising foundation driving skills\n2- Understanding how to chunk skills down into the essential components\n3- Develop those skills by applying them in new situations\n4- Creating thinking drivers\n5- Developing the driver’s self-evaluation skills \nJoin Andrew to develop your skills and help learners connect their foundational skills to new scenarios. Encouraging this adaptability lays the groundwork for confident\, competent\, and safe drivers. \nThe link to join the meeting is below\, and I’ll be opening the session at 17:50

SUMMARY:Skills For Coaching Online
DESCRIPTION:This is a certificated Zoom workshop and is 4 sessions held over 4 weeks. \nDates for these Zoom sessions are 29th January and 5th/12rd/19th of February and run from 7 pm to 9 pm. \nDelivered by Hardial Matharu from KIT \nIf you want to develop your coaching and Client Centred Learning skills\, from the comfort of your own home\, then look no further. This four-module course will introduce coaching to you and help you to understand the purpose of coaching\, explore coaching vs. client-centred learning\, take a look at where instruction fits into coaching and develop skills and techniques to help you develop your coaching skills and deliver great Client-centred lessons. \nOver the four modules\, you will begin to understand When and Why to coach and what coaching really is. \nHow to use different coaching approaches effectively and efficiently to help your pupils develop holistically. The course will help you to understand where Coaching fits into Client Centred Learning and why the DVSA use the term CCL rather than coaching. We also take a look at Instruction and Coaching\, where the two paths meet\, and when instruction is essential to client-centred learning. \nUltimately at the end of the four-module workshop\, you should have the knowledge and understanding\, as well as teaching tools to help you to improve your delivery of great CCL lessons and help your pupils’ own ability to evaluate and self-evaluate. These are the skills that will keep them safer on the roads post-test.

DESCRIPTION:Let’s face it\, they’re not an easy read! Many instructors struggle to understand what’s expected of them for their Part 3 or Standards Check\, and these competences could be the reason why! \nOr\, perhaps you’re okay with the theory of the competences\, but sticking them in a lesson and practically carrying them out is where you’re having trouble. \nOn this workshop\, we’ll look at: \nWhat do they mean? \nHow do we know? \nHow do we score high?!
