Welcome to a fantastic, enlightening two days of training.

This comprehensive two-day Zoom training course is designed for both fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) and Potential Driving Instructors (PDIs). The focus is on mastering the art of asking effective coaching questions during virtual driving lessons. 

Participants will develop their coaching conversations and questioning skills to deliver client-centred lessons, ensuring their pupils become reflective, solution-oriented, and confident drivers.

This will enable them to support their pupils in reflecting on their driving experiences, finding solutions, understanding the root causes of their problems, learning and developing understanding, and adopting safe driving attitudes and behaviours.

Workshop Structure:

Day 1: 9.30-4.30 Modules 1-3

Day 2: 9.30-4.30 Modules 4-6

 

Objectives:

Understand and apply effective questioning techniques in driving instruction.

Develop strategies to engage pupils and create a positive learning environment.

Enhance lesson planning, goal setting, and feedback through coaching conversations.

Adapt lessons based on pupil needs and priorities.

 

Content:

Day 1:

Module 1: What is Effective Questioning?

Explore the types of questions and their uses in developing pupils’ knowledge, understanding, and problem-solving skills.

Learn how to help pupils understand themselves, their character, and their impact on risk.

Application within a driving lesson: Having a plan for your questioning and how to integrate these questions effectively.

 

Module 2: Developing Pupil Engagement

Create a fantastic learning space where pupils are happy to engage with their learning and answer thought-provoking questions.

Understand and effectively deal with pupil resistance to answering questions.

Develop continuous engagement throughout the lesson.

 

Module 3: The Lesson Recap

Use coaching questions for an excellent client-centred lesson recap.

Set the scene for a well-planned and structured lesson.

 

Day 2:

Module 4: The Goal-Setting Conversation

Use effective coaching questions to help pupils understand specific lesson goals.

Assist pupils in setting their own goals.

Help pupils manage their performance expectations throughout the lesson.

 

Module 5: Effective Lesson Feedback

Better understand structured feedback and how it fits into the structure of your lessons.

Learn what effective feedback is and where it might be best conducted as the pupil learns.

Use coaching conversations to help the pupil learn throughout their practice.

Examples of scaling conversations to measure progress.

Develop listening and two-way conversation skills.

 

Module 6: Managing the Pupil’s Learning Priorities

Adapt the lesson forward and backward based on pupil needs.

Understand why and when to adapt.

Learn what you can adapt and how to implement these changes.

Format: Two-day Zoom workshop

Join us for an interactive and engaging session that will transform your approach to driving instruction and help your pupils become more self-aware, resourceful, and confident drivers.

You may be required to work in small teams to discuss various elements of the module being taught. 

There will be no role-play during these workshops.

 

You wont be in a large group of 30 plus+ This course is designed with you in mind. Group numbers are limited and kept small for a more personal individual experience.
